HARNESS
Our harness allows all the range of movement the dog needs during his daily walk. Comfortable and ergonomic, it is adjustable in 6 positions, providing ultimate comfort for the animal. Our customers have told us many times that their pet was not comfortable when installing a harness. Many dogs run away, freeze, lie down or start jumping and running in all directions. All of these reactions demonstrate emotional stress related to the installation of the equipment. Walking should be an enjoyable activity for your dog, not a mentally or physically stressful time. The equipment must be wisely chosen and properly adjusted to allow your dog to be comfortable with his harness. The fit of the harness can make a big difference to your dog's experience. The installation of the harness must be done in 4 steps:
1. The neck strap, which runs along the base of the black fabric breastplate, should fit around the neck but under your dog's existing collar. Once attached, the strap should rest at the base of the neck and rest just above the shoulder. The black triangle of fabric should be positioned on the sternum. A strap too high on the neck could cause injury to the cervical spine, thyroid, etc.
2. The back strap, the shortest when the neck strap is in place, should be adjusted to clear the shoulder blades.
3. The ventral strap, the longest which hangs, must be passed between the 2 front legs to attach the straps which pass over the dog's ribs. This strap must be long enough to allow the straps passing over the thorax to reach 1 or 2 inches behind the front legs. This space helps prevent friction near the elbows.
4. The straps resting on the thorax must be adjusted so that 1 finger can be inserted. A harness that is too tight can injure your dog and be extremely uncomfortable for the animal.
5. The seams are reflective for maximum safety in reduced lighting.
